Jenni is a masters prepared Certified Child Life Specialist and Certified Therapeutic Recreation Specialist who recently retired after 32 years in the field. She has a deep passion for empowering, both parents and professionals, in having hard conversations through a developmentally appropriate systemative approach and has co-authored two children's books, "What Happens When Someone I Love Doesn't Feel Good" and "What Happens When Someone I Love Can't Get Better". Her professional experience includes 21 years as a direct care CCLS and Child Life Manager at Phoenix Children's Hospital, 4 years developing and leading programs at Ryan House, and most recently direct care CCLS at Cancer Treatment Centers of America and Mayo Clinic Arizona.
Jessica is a Certified Child Life Specialist (CCLS), author, bereaved mom, and grief specialist. She has written four children's books: The ABCs of Grief, The ABCs of Grief: Emotions & Feelings, Forever Connected, and The ABCs of Grief: Coping. Jessica has been a CCLS since 2008, spending 14 years in the hospital setting and almost four in private practice. The first 14 years of her career were spent in the hospital setting at Johns Hopkins All Children’s Hospital, Johns Hopkins Children’s Center, and GBMC. Over the years, she worked in pediatric ICUs, the emergency department, inpatient units, and surgical centres. Jessica has a BA in Education of Young Children, a minor in Psychology, and a MS in Healthcare Administration and Community Health. She is the founder and owner of Kids Grief Support, a private practice that provides therapeutic sessions to grieving children and families worldwide through expressive activities, developmentally appropriate diagnosis, and grief education, as well as other support to aid in processing and coping with various grief experiences.
